 Gittisham Hill House, Honiton
A complex of 12 retirement bungalows, built to a very high standard, in the grounds of a nursing home.
The site was surrounded by many mature trees, which required detailed discussions with the Local Authority landscape officer to agree the layout.
The buildings are arranged around the perimeter of an open green, giving all residents an outlook onto the communal activities.
No mains gas was available on site and therefore the properties were insulated to a high level, with good thermal mass, and heated from an off peak electric water boiler, which has resulted in very economical running costs.
